The WORLD QIGONG FEDERATION
The World Qigong Federation will bring Qigong Masters and practitioners, scientists and researchers together to exchange
information and broaden the influence of Qigong in mainstream health care and all aspects of life. The global connections will make Qigong
better known among the world's peoples and improve access to this powerful energy system as a means of maintaining good health and
healing disease. By coming together we can foster good health and healing for the world's people with this powerful healing techniques. By
using Qigong's many effective styles and long history of improving and maintaining health, individuals can be given the power to manage their own health and well-being.

- Promote global unity through promotion of Qigong as an effective mainstream method of healing, and as a way of enhancing the quality of life
- Define Qigong as an essential component of Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM)

THE TIME FOR NETWORKING IS NOW
There is a burgeoning interest in the west among the general population in self-healing and in trying new ways to improve health and
energy. Many who have tried other therapies are looking for help with conditions which seem incurable. People are asking for the names of
healers and teachers whom they can trust. Masters, teachers amd practitioners of Qigong want to be up-to-date on research. The East
West Academy of Healing Arts (EWAHA) with requests and cooperation from many of these people has taken the initiative to inaugurate the
World Qigong Federation and the American Qigong Association in 1997. EWAHA has been working since 1973 to integrate western medicine
and Traditional Chinese Medicine, to educate people about Qigong as an effective system for maintaining health, curing disease and
improving life. EWAHA continues to emphasize the oneness of body, mind and spirit. We welcome all people.

FACT SHEET
I. History:
Discussion of establishing a World Qigong Federation and the American Qigong Association began in the early 1990's; both organizations were
ratified prior to the Second World Congress on Qigong and the First American Qigong Association Conference held in San Francisco, California on November 20-26, 1997.
It was decided by those present at the first meeting in 1997 to speed up the organizational process of both organizations they would initially
be incorporated under the non-profit status of East West Academy of Healing Arts (EWAHA) for financial support by EWAHA until such time
that it is advantageous for them to be free standing. The Bylaws of EWAHA Corporation would be used. EWAHA non-profit status papers and EWAHA Bylaws (available upon request).
II. Mission Statement:
The World Qigong Federation (WQF) will bring Qigong Masters and practitioners, Scientists and researchers together to exchange
information and broaden the influence of Qigong in mainstream health care and all aspects of life. The global connections will make Qigong

VII. Membership: In June 1997 there were forty-two members registered in WQF.
Membership continues to increase, especially from the Congresses and Conferences. This creates visibility and an opportunity for people to
attend meetings and be a part of the organization. Now there are 435 members.
VIII. World Congresses on Qigong: There have been five prestigious and dignified World Congresses on
Qigong held in North America since 1990, which offer a platform to bring top Qigong Masters, and Qigong Scientists from China and around
the world to North America to properly introduce Qigong to the West. The First World Congress on Qigong was held in Berkeley, CA. The 2nd,
3rd, 4th, and 5th World Congresses on Qigong were held in San Francisco, California. A Special Qigong Summit was held in Washington, D.C.
World Congresses on Qigong have been occurring for the following purposes: • To broaden the influence of Qigong as a viable practice for enhancing
health in everyday life and as an effective system for use in mainstream healthcare • To bring together people to determine policies, to pursue research on
Qigong and to act as a springboard for raising funds for much needed scientific research • To inaugurate an international and national organizations to promote
the benefits of Qigong, and its Masters of Excellence, worldwide and in the United States • To involve government as co-sponsorships
• To declare annually a World Qigong Week and a World Qigong Day
o November 22, 1997, The Honorable Willie Brown, Mayor of San Francisco, declared "Dr. Effie Chow Day" and presented her with the
Proclamation at the opening of the Congress.
o November 15-21, 1999, The Honorable Willie Brown, Mayor of San Francisco, declared "World Qigong Week" & November 20, 1999 as
"World Qigong Day" and presented Dr. Effie Chow with the Proclamation at the opening of the Congress.
